No apology for Malemas: court hands Khawula suspended jail term 05.05.2026

The Johannesburg high court on Tuesday held social media commentator Musa Khawula in contempt for defying a court order to apologize to EFF leader Julius Malema and his wife Mantoa Malema for defamation. On April 14, Judge Gregory Wright mandated that Khawula publish an unreserved apology within 24 hours, but he failed to comply. Should he not comply, the suspension lapses automatically, enforcing immediate imprisonment. Khawula was also ordered to pay the application's legal costs.
