Nordsee Erneut Pottwale in Dänemark gestrandet 21.02.2026

Multiple sperm whales have stranded in Denmark, with initial reports from the Danish news agency Ritzau indicating four whales discovered between the island of Fanø and the Skallingen peninsula. Authorities are on-site to assess the situation, and the exact number of stranded animals remains uncertain, with later reports suggesting five or six. Some of the whales are alive, while others are deceased. Danish Environment Minister Magnus Heunicke urged the public to stay away from the area and respect barriers to avoid stressing the animals and hindering rescue efforts. This marks the third sperm whale stranding in Denmark this year, following incidents three weeks prior and a few days later near Esbjerg.
