Narodna skupština Republike Srpske (NSRS) usvojila je 7. jula odluku kojom podržava veto članice Predsjedništva BiH Željke Cvijanović na odluku o imenovanju članova Komisije za očuvanje nacionalnih spomenika BiH. Glasanjem od 59 od 61 prisutnog poslanika, proglašeno je da je odluka Predsjedništva štetna po vitalni nacionalni interes srpskog naroda. NSRS je uz odluku usvojio i zaključke koji optužuju institucije na osnovu za "flagrantno kršenje" Ustava BiH. Dok predstavnici iz Federacije BiH tvrde da za ovakvu odluku nije postojao pravni osnov, stručnjaci ukazuju na upitnost primjene entitetskog veta na samostalnu državnu instituciju uspostavljenu Dejtonskim sporazumom. Situacija je dodatno složena jer se predložene izmjene u radu Komisije, koje uključuju povratak stranih stručnjaka i ukidanje obaveze konsenzusa, smatraju ključnim za efikasnije odlučivanje o nacionalnim spomenicima.
