'Showing SA the middle finger' | Ntshavheni slams Jacob Zuma for visiting Guptas in India 03.07.2026

Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni delivered a scathing rebuke during a media briefing on Friday, targeting former President Jacob Zuma for his visit to the Gupta brothers in India. She described the act as "showing the middle finger" to South Africans, asserting that it undermines the nation's foreign policy and criminal justice system, particularly regarding state capture allegations linked to the Guptas. Ntshavheni emphasized that government expects its officials abroad to uphold the law, not assist those facing criminal charges, and expressed deep concern over alleged misconduct by South African High Commissioner to India, Ambassador Anil Sooklal. She stated that Sooklal's actions compromise efforts to secure mutual legal assistance to return the fugitive Gupta brothers to South Africa, calling it a "disgrace" that a government representative would help criminals instead of performing his duties.
