NTUC to offer over 1 million places for AI training over next few years 05.05.2026

On May 5, 2026, NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng announced a major initiative to provide over one million AI training places through NTUC LearningHub to ensure Singapore’s workforce remains competitive. Speaking in Parliament, Ng proposed the "An AI Transition with No Jobless Growth" motion, emphasizing that artificial intelligence must benefit workers across all sectors rather than replacing them. The strategy includes scaling the AI-Ready SG initiative, expanding Company Training Committees, and adjusting the SkillsFuture Jobseeker Support Scheme to assist displaced professionals. Ng urged the government to increase funding and proposed that the Singapore National Employers Federation co-lead these efforts to ensure inclusive economic growth, ultimately aiming to help Singaporeans transition into new, high-quality roles with confidence and dignity during this technological shift.
