Nulane R24.9m fraud case re-enrolled after SCA ruling 04.06.2026

The R24.9 million Nulane fraud and corruption case was re-enrolled in the Bloemfontein magistrate's court on Thursday by the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (Idac). This action follows a Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) ruling from last year, which overturned a Free State High Court decision from 2023 that had discharged six individual accused and two entities. The SCA also permitted a retrial for the same offenses. Among the accused are former Free State agriculture department head Limakatso Moorosi, former head of rural development Peter Thabethe, former CFO Seipati Dhlamini, alleged Gupta associate Iqbal Sharma, Sharma's brother-in-law Dinesh Patel, Islandsite director Ronica Ragavan, and the companies Nulane Investment and Islandsite. The accused's attempt to appeal the SCA's ruling to the Constitutional Court was unsuccessful. The case was adjourned to September 22 for the disclosure of the docket, with all accused present in court.
