The annual STI report from the RIVM shows that the number of tests for sexually transmitted infections has declined again in 2025, across all major healthcare providers such as general practitioners, public health services (GGDs), and private clinics. Women and men who have sex with women in particular have tested less often. At the same time, diagnoses of STIs such as syphilis and gonorrhea are rising, posing a risk to both individual health and public health.
