Oberstes Gericht kippt US-Zölle : Was Trumps größte Niederlage für seine Präsidentschaft bedeutet 21.02.2026

The US Supreme Court has ruled against President Donald Trump's emergency tariffs, declaring them unlawful in a six-to-three decision that significantly bolsters Congress's role in trade policy. Trump, who invoked the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977, citing drug trafficking and trade deficits as national emergencies, had imposed broad tariffs on imports from countries including Germany and the EU. The court found that the act permits import regulation but does not grant authority for imposing tariffs, which are considered a congressional power. Despite his anger and criticism of the judges, Trump immediately announced new tariffs, indicating his continued commitment to using this economic tool, though these may face further legal challenges and potential repayment of over $175 billion in collected duties.
