Obwohl es rechtlich gar nicht möglich ist: CDU will Mindestlohn für Saisonarbeiter abschaffen 21.02.2026

Despite legal assessments confirming its impossibility, the CDU party congress in Stuttgart overwhelmingly passed a motion advocating for exceptions to the minimum wage for seasonal agricultural workers. The party argues that the current minimum wage, which stands at €13.90 per hour and is set to rise to €14.60 by 2027, weakens the competitiveness of domestic farms and jeopardizes Germany's food security. CDU delegates contend that seasonal workers, who are crucial for peak harvest times and come from countries where lower wages are still above local standards, should be exempt. This stance contradicts a previous legal review commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, which concluded that such exceptions are not legally feasible due to principles of equal treatment enshrined in the German constitution.
