Oikya Parishad says 133 incidents of communal violence took place in 3 months of 2026 09.04.2026

The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad has reported a concerning rise in communal violence, documenting 133 incidents across the country during the first three months of 2026. These incidents, spanning from January 1 to March 31, include 25 murders, four cases of rape and violence against women, 35 attacks and looting at temples, and 69 other offenses such as assaults on the indigenous community and land grabbing. The organization noted that minorities had hoped for a reduction in violence following the formation of the BNP-led government, but the continued attacks have left communities alarmed. The Oikya Parishad is demanding the arrest and punishment of perpetrators, compensation for victims, and the government's fulfillment of an eight-point demand, including the enactment of a minority protection law.
