Annita files candidacy in Larnaca 06.05.2026

The state health services organisation (Okypy) launched an investigation on Wednesday following a complaint from the family of an elderly patient who alleged that nursing staff negligence at a state hospital placed her life in danger. The family reported that after being admitted from a private clinic, the patient was found delirious with extensive bruising on her knee, which they claimed occurred in hospital. They accused staff of being unresponsive and mocking her condition, with one nurse allegedly questioning her mental integrity and another defiantly stating she would not survive surgery. The woman required emergency vascular repair surgery after internal bleeding was confirmed and is now recovering in intensive care. Okypy has apologised, removed the involved nurse from the ward pending investigation, and assured it is implementing strict protocols.
