A fatal collision between a car and a train at a level crossing in Hoghton, near Preston, Lancashire, has left one person dead and a child with life-threatening injuries. British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed the incident occurred at approximately 08:50 BST on Station Road. Emergency services, including the North West Ambulance Service, Lancashire Fire and Rescue, and two air ambulances, attended the scene. The child was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital for further treatment, while the other occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. No passengers or staff on the train were injured.
