Opening of JR's installation on Paris Pont Neuf bridge delayed after damage 02.06.2026

The anticipated June 6 public opening of French artist JR's temporary installation, "La Caverne du Pont Neuf," on Paris's Pont Neuf bridge has been indefinitely postponed due to damage sustained by the inflatable structure. The artwork, a giant cave with a rocky appearance created with black and white printed canvas, was designed to be a three-week exhibition. Organizers stated that technical experts are assessing the exact circumstances of the incident, which several French media outlets attributed to strong winds. A new opening date will be announced once the assessment is complete. JR created the piece as a tribute to Christo and Jeanne-Claude, who previously wrapped the same bridge.
