Operation Guardian, launched by the British bases police on May 30, has already produced significant results in its first month, with 12 arrests made at Lady’s Mile and Curium beaches. The most recent arrest occurred last weekend when officers stopped a 34-year-old Bulgarian man on suspicion of drug-impaired driving. A subsequent vehicle search revealed a small quantity of drugs believed for personal use, along with several prohibited weapons, including pointed kitchen knives, a scythe, and a wooden baton. The man, who told police he was homeless, has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on July 6.
