Opposition-held constituencies being deprived of development support: Jamaat ameer 03.07.2026

During a press conference in Dhaka, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman accused the ruling government of deliberately withholding development funds and projects from constituencies represented by opposition lawmakers. He claimed that this practice is a form of political discrimination that directly harms the welfare of citizens living in those areas. Dr. Rahman argued that all constituencies, regardless of their political affiliation, deserve equal access to government resources and development initiatives. He cited specific examples of stalled infrastructure projects and delayed allocations in opposition-held seats, stating that this pattern is evidence of a deliberate policy. The Jamaat leader called on the government to cease this alleged discrimination and ensure equitable distribution of development support across all parliamentary constituencies. He warned that such partisan actions could further erode public trust in the democratic process and exacerbate political tensions. Dr. Rahman also urged the Election Commission and civil society to monitor the situation and hold the government accountable for ensuring fair treatment of all citizens. The press conference was part of a broader critique of the government's governance practices, with the Jamaat ameer emphasizing the need for transparency and fairness in the allocation of state resources.
