Frans van Gerven and Giel van Genugten, the founders of WensAmbulance Brabant, were surprised with royal distinctions on Sunday afternoon by Valkenswaard mayor Corine van Overdijk. For their fifteen years of dedication to the foundation, they were appointed Knights in the Order of Orange-Nassau during a volunteer day. What began at a kitchen table has grown into a significant Brabant initiative, now operating six ambulances with 160 volunteers who have fulfilled 7,500 wishes. Both founders expressed their disbelief and gratitude for the unexpected honor, highlighting the profound impact of their work in creating memorable experiences for individuals facing life-limiting illnesses.
