The passing of Oton Reya, one of the most authentic winemakers of Brda, ended his life's journey yesterday in Kozana. Reya was not a winemaker who relied on large fairs or public appearances; instead, he built his reputation through direct contact with people and a deep understanding of nature. His work was closely tied to his father's old Merlot vineyard, where he performed clonal selection of old vines to ensure the continuity of the heritage. His philosophy was rooted in respecting what was inherited and understanding that wine tells its story through time, not just through words. Although his legacy is quiet, it remains indelible in the Brda cellars and in the memory of all those who found an authentic experience in him. In his final hours, his family requested that flowers and candles be donated to charity.
