Natural Resources Minister Tim Hodgson announced on behalf of the Canadian government that $28.9 million will be allocated to various carbon capture and renewable energy projects across Canada. This funding, sourced from the Energy Innovation Program, aims to foster clean technology development and maintain the reliability and competitiveness of Canadian energy. The largest portion, nearly $15 million, will support five carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) initiatives, with two Saskatchewan organizations receiving a significant share to advance CCUS processes. Additionally, over $9 million is designated for solar power projects, and the remaining funds will bolster smart grid technologies designed to enhance electricity flow efficiency.
