Overchuk says Russian firms eye projects in Karabakh 16.04.2026

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk announced that Russian businesses are expressing significant interest in participating in construction and development projects within territories that Azerbaijan designates as "liberated." Speaking at the 24th session of the Azerbaijan–Russia intergovernmental commission in April 2026, Overchuk highlighted a favorable investment environment that is creating opportunities for cooperation. He cited examples such as established ties between Jabrayil and Saint Petersburg, and ongoing kindergarten construction in Zangilan district villages, funded by Russia’s Astrakhan Oblast, following Azerbaijan's September 2023 military offensive in Nagorno-Karabakh which led to the displacement of over 100,000 Armenians.
