The WNBA is facing a significant representation crisis in its head coaching ranks, as no Black women currently hold a head coaching position despite five vacancies heading into the 2026 season. This marks a sharp decline from 2022, when seven of the league's 12 head coaches were Black, including three women. By 2023, that number dropped to only three Black women head coaches, and now only two Black head coaches remain, both men.
