Parents released from Arizona DHS facility reunite with their teen son dying of cancer 10.05.2026

Isidoro González Avilés and Norma Anabel Ramírez Amaya, parents of an 18-year-old US citizen with terminal colon cancer, reunited with their son Kevin González in Durango, Mexico, on Saturday evening. The couple, who had been deported to Mexico on Friday after attempting to re-enter the US in April to see their son, were released from a Department of Homeland Security detention facility in Arizona following a US district judge's order. Kevin, born in the US but raised in Mexico, was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer after falling ill during a Christmas visit to Chicago. The parents, previously deported after entering the US illegally, had their visa applications denied due to their immigration history. They expressed gratitude for the support that enabled their reunion, emphasizing their desire to be with their son during his final months.
