The National Crime Agency (NCA) and the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) are warning parents against publicly sharing images of their children online due to the escalating risk of AI-generated child sexual abuse material (CSAM). In 2025, the IWF identified over 8,000 AI-generated CSAM images and videos, a 14% increase from the previous year, with AI-generated videos alone rising from 13 in 2024 to 3,440 in 2025. The NCA and IWF have released new guidance advising parents to review privacy settings, utilize "close friends" features, and engage children in discussions about image sharing. This advice addresses the growing misuse of AI to create, manipulate, and share inappropriate images of children, a threat exacerbated by the ease of use of AI tools.
