Pas calls for revival of Muafakat Nasional ahead of state polls 03.06.2026

PAS is advocating for the revival of the Muafakat Nasional (MN) political alliance, proposing "Muafakat Nasional 2.0," ahead of upcoming state elections. PAS deputy president, Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, believes reinstating this cooperation among Malay-based parties is crucial for strengthening the political standing of Malays and Muslims. He cited the dissolution of the Johor State Legislative Assembly as an opportunity for political change that could restore Bumiputera political strength not only in Peninsular Malaysia but also in Sabah and Sarawak. Tuan Ibrahim emphasized the need for consensus and tolerance among major Malay-Muslim parties to address issues such as the recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate, objections to Malay rulers' decrees, and challenges to state syariah enactments, warning that political division weakens the community.
