PCA fast-tracks Indus Waters Treaty case despite India boycott 13h ago

The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) is accelerating its proceedings on the Indus Waters Treaty dispute, aiming for a verdict by the end of May, despite India's continued boycott. India considers the PCA's involvement illegal and has not participated in the hearings, which are focused on ruling on the legality of India holding the treaty in abeyance and addressing Pakistan's request for interim measures. These measures could potentially halt construction on India's Kishenganga and Ratle hydel projects in Jammu and Kashmir. The PCA has allowed Pakistan to submit technical data from these projects, linking the current proceedings to earlier neutral expert proceedings, a move India opposes due to confidentiality concerns.
