PCIe 6.0: Micron startet die Massenfertigung der ersten SSD 15.02.2026

Micron has initiated mass production of its SSD 9650, marking the debut of the first Solid State Drive to feature the PCIe 6.0 interface. This development precedes the widespread availability of motherboards supporting PCIe 6.0, a reversal of previous trends. The SSD 9650 boasts impressive performance figures for a first-generation product, with sequential read speeds of 28 GB/s and write speeds of 14 GB/s, alongside high random access performance of 5.5 million IOPS for reads and 900,000 IOPS for writes. Available in EDSFF E1.S and E3.S form factors, with Pro and Max versions offering varying capacities from 6.4 TB to 30.72 TB and enhanced endurance for the Max variants, the SSD is poised for deployment in data centers, with initial server systems supporting PCIe 6.0 anticipated this year from manufacturers like AMD and Intel.
