Pediatricians urge Americans to stick with previous vaccine schedule despite CDC's changes 27.01.2026

Pediatricians are urging Americans to adhere to the previous vaccine schedule, diverging from recent changes made by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), representing most pediatric doctors, has released its own immunization guidelines recommending routine vaccination against 18 diseases, an increase from the CDC's revised list of 11. This split follows the CDC's decision to reverse its COVID-19 vaccine recommendation for all children and a broader reduction in recommended vaccinations under the leadership of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at the Department of Health and Human Services. The AAP's schedule, endorsed by numerous medical groups and California's public health department, aims to provide a stable, evidence-based alternative amidst federal policy shifts and data collection slowdowns.
