Spanish police announced on Tuesday evening the arrest of a fugitive known as "the man with a thousand names" in Madrid. This individual, a member of the Peruvian gang "Los Terribles del 17," was sought by Peruvian authorities for numerous crimes, including alleged possession of explosives, involvement in violent crimes, ransom kidnappings, and contract killings. The suspect had deliberately removed his fingerprints and used a stolen identity to evade detection. He was previously involved in a mass prison escape in 2012 from the high-security Challapalca prison in southern Peru. His arrest in 2024 occurred while he was in possession of an explosive device and ammunition, further indicating his criminal activities. He is currently awaiting extradition to Peru, a country grappling with a surge in crime and gang influence.
