Pinar del Río prepares for the 73rd anniversary of the Moncada assault with revitalization works 14.07.2026

A few days before Pinar del Río hosts the central activities for the 73rd anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, various sectors are working on the conditioning of public spaces. Notable among these efforts are the restoration of the monument to the Saíz Montes de Oca brothers and the José Jacinto Milanés theater, where the July 26th artistic gala will take place. Governor Eumelín González Sánchez reported that the city's main parks are being revitalized with the installation of solar lamps to guarantee lighting even without electricity, an initiative partially funded by the territorial contribution for local development, known as "the 1%." This action is of great impact following the destruction of public lighting caused by Hurricane Ian.
