PM stresses institutional reform as key to double-digit growth 03.06.2026

Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng emphasized institutional reform as crucial for Vietnam to achieve double-digit economic growth in 2026. During a government meeting on Wednesday, he directed ministries, departments, and localities to implement comprehensive measures to boost growth, maintain macro-economic stability, and accelerate reform, public investment disbursement, science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. The meeting reviewed the socio-economic performance for May and the first five months of 2026, noting progress in issuing new regulations, controlling inflation (CPI at 4.31% for the period), and increasing state budget revenue by 15.3% year-on-year. However, challenges remain, including industrial growth below target, a slow consumer demand recovery, persistent inflationary pressures from higher energy and input costs, and lagging public investment disbursement. The PM stressed the demanding tasks ahead to exceed 10% growth, requiring coordinated measures, strengthened discipline in policymaking, and the acceleration of decentralization and administrative reforms.
