PN slams Bonett over unanswered PQs and public works on private land 07.07.2026

The Nationalist Party (PN) has criticized former Transport Minister Chris Bonett for leaving 174 parliamentary questions unanswered during the last legislature, the highest count for any ministry. A parliamentary question by MP Michael Piccinino revealed that over 1,200 questions remained unanswered across government, with the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects leading this statistic. Additionally, the PN accused Bonett of failing in ministerial responsibility regarding public works on private land. Specifically, Infrastructure Malta used public funds to pave and level a car park at St Thomas Bay, only to discover the land was privately owned after completion. While the Marsaskala Local Council demanded the land remain free for public use, Bonett, now Minister for Sustainable Mobility, defended his record. He argued the PN used "half-truths," noting he answered 3,730 out of 3,904 questions, achieving a 95.5% response rate.
