The municipal councils of Porto and Matosinhos, together with APDL (Administration of the Ports of Douro, Leixões, and Viana do Castelo), announced a joint investment of approximately nine million euros for the rehabilitation and enhancement of the Riguinha stream. The project aims to resolve an environmental problem that directly affects the bathing water quality of local beaches, such as Praia Internacional in Porto and Matosinhos Beach. According to authorities, the discharge of the stream's waters, which are frequently degraded, has negatively influenced water quality over the years.
