PPAA resolves 96.7pc of procurement appeals as Tanzania pushes value for money 07.07.2026

The Public Procurement Appeals Authority (PPAA) resolved 96.7 percent of procurement appeals filed during the 2025/26 financial year, handling 58 out of 60 appeals within the legally prescribed timeframe, while two were carried forward. PPAA Head of Legal Services, Ms Agnes Sayi, announced this during the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, emphasizing the authority's role in promoting fairness and accountability in public contract awards. The performance aligns with Tanzania's shift to digital procurement, including the operational Complaints and Appeals Module within the National e-Procurement System of Tanzania (NeST) since February 2025. PPAA has trained 2,600 stakeholders, including 1,907 bidders and 705 officials, to use the system, which aims to enhance transparency and reduce delays. The authority is also conducting public awareness on various appeal procedures at the trade fair.
