PRIME TotalEnergies targets budget LPG market with Sh700 refill 07.05.2026

TotalEnergies Marketing Kenya is targeting low-income households with a new three-kilogramme liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder, "Baby Meko," offering a Sh700 refill to counter escalating fuel prices. Launched late last year, this package aims to capture a significant market segment that became accessible after the exit of clean energy firm Koko Networks and rising LPG costs. The high price of larger LPG containers, with six-kilogramme refills increasing by over Sh230 and 13kg refills by Sh390, had pushed the commodity out of reach for many. The Baby Meko cylinder and gas retail at Sh2,200 outright, with the Sh700 refill proving crucial for thousands of financially vulnerable families seeking affordable clean cooking solutions amidst global price spikes attributed to the Middle East conflict.
