President Emmanuel Macron convened a meeting at the Elysée Palace on Tuesday, February 24th, at 10 AM, with key ministers including the Minister of the Interior, Laurent Nuñez, and the Minister of Justice, Gérald Darmanin, to address violent extremist groups. The meeting's objective was to review current actions against ultra-right and ultra-left violent groups, assess future risks, and investigate potential links between these groups and political parties. This comes in the wake of the march honoring Quentin Deranque, which led to two investigations for apology of crimes against humanity and insults. The government is concerned about increasing porosity between certain political parties and violent movements, and plans to proceed with the dissolution of several violent groups, including two far-right and one far-left organizations, a process that is typically lengthy and regulated.
