Proficiency in Luxembourgish remains a key criterion at the CFL 03.06.2026

Luxembourgish language proficiency remains a significant hiring criterion at the Luxembourg Railway Company (CFL), despite acknowledged recruitment challenges. In response to a parliamentary inquiry on June 3, 2020, the Minister for Mobility and Public Works clarified that while the importance of Luxembourgish varies by role, operational positions requiring customer interaction necessitate a B1 level by the end of probation. Other roles require an A2.2 level. The CFL's "LetzTrain" program supports staff integration and linguistic diversity. The Minister affirmed that standardized, impartial, and non-discriminatory language testing procedures are in place, assessing all candidates under identical conditions and rejecting any immediate plans for reform.
