Prominente BBB-leden uiten in brief kritiek op passeren Mona Keijzer als partijleider 22.02.2026

Three prominent BBB members, including Senator Robert van Gasteren, State Secretary Gijs Tuinman, and former MP Claudia van Zanten, have expressed strong dissatisfaction in a letter to the party board regarding the leadership transition where Mona Keijzer was overlooked. The BBB announced on Friday that co-founder Henk Vermeer would succeed Caroline van der Plas as party leader and parliamentary group leader. The signatories argue that Keijzer, a seasoned politician and former prime ministerial candidate, is a more suitable choice due to her broad appeal and political experience, contrasting her with Vermeer. They express concern over the party's future direction and identity, fearing a strategic misstep and a departure from the BBB's vision as a broad, social-conservative people's party. The letter highlights a perceived internal conflict regarding the party's core focus, with some favoring a return to its agrarian roots and others advocating for a wider appeal, including Keijzer's anti-migration stance.
