Prosecutor's Office tightens circle around former deputy Fuenzalida and instructs Bridec to examine his cell phone 07.07.2026

The Eastern Metropolitan Prosecutor's Office, under the direction of prosecutor Constanza Encina, has launched a criminal investigation against former UDI deputy Juan Manuel Fuenzalida for an alleged mechanism involving the return of parliamentary allowances. The investigation, stemming from a facet of the Joaquín Lavín León case, arose following a complaint from his former chief of staff, who revealed a fraud scheme similar to the one investigated regarding Senator Camila Flores. Through a confidential official letter, the prosecutor's office instructed the PDI's Economic Crimes Investigation Brigade (Bridec) to examine Fuenzalida's cell phone and digital devices to review suspicious communications. Additionally, a request was made to identify all support staff hired between 2018 and 2026, as well as a request to the Chamber of Deputies for all invoices submitted and approved by the parliamentarian during his mandate.
