Protests against US Ebola Station in Kenya 03.06.2026

In Kenya, where no Ebola cases have occurred so far, fierce and partly bloody protests are taking place against the planned establishment of a US quarantine station near Nanyuki. The US government plans to treat American citizens infected with the virus in Congo or Uganda there, instead of providing care in the USA. These plans are meeting massive resistance due to fears that Kenya will become a containment colony and the country will be exposed to unnecessary risk, despite no domestic cases being recorded. A Kenyan court has temporarily halted the opening of the station, demanding disclosure of the agreement with the USA. Despite criticism from Kenya and the USA, as well as the court's decision, preparations for the quarantine station appear to be continuing with ongoing transport of personnel and equipment by US military aircraft.
