Près de Marseille. Des "ovnis" dans le ciel, c'est quoi ce phénomène météo étrange ? 21.02.2026

On Friday, February 20, 2026, unusual cloud formations resembling "flying saucers" were widely shared on social media in the Bouches-du-Rhône region near Marseille. These phenomena were identified by meteorologist Paul Marquis as Altocumulus lenticularis, commonly known as lenticular clouds. These stationary clouds, sculpted by wind at altitudes between 2000 and 6000 meters, form when dry, windy conditions meet slight upper-altitude disturbances, often near mountains. The striking display preceded a period of exceptionally mild spring-like weather for the weekend, with temperatures expected to reach up to 20°C inland and 18°C in Marseille.
