PSG victory celebrations turn violent with arrests and injuries in Paris 07.05.2026

Following Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) qualification for the Champions League final by defeating Bayern Munich on Wednesday, widespread celebrations in Paris devolved into violence. French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez reported that 127 people were arrested across the greater Paris area, with 107 arrests within Paris itself. Eleven individuals sustained injuries, including one serious injury from a fireworks mortar, and 23 police officers also suffered minor injuries. Disturbances included clashes with police, numerous fires, and damage to public property, particularly around the Parc des Princes stadium and the Champs-Élysées. Despite police efforts to prevent looting and manage crowds with tear gas, unrest occurred. Authorities have vowed to maintain similar firmness for future events.
