Public investment disbursement reaches 21.6% of the annual plan within five months 03.06.2026

In the first five months of 2026, Việt Nam disbursed VNĐ219.4 trillion ($8.4 billion) in public investment, achieving 21.6% of the annual plan set by Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng. Central government contributions amounted to VNĐ70.6 trillion (19.4%), while local governments disbursed VNĐ148.7 trillion (22.9%). The total 2026 public investment plan is a record VNĐ1.08 quadrillion, an increase of VNĐ175 trillion from 2025. Delays are attributed to issues such as incomplete investment procedures, shortages and increased prices of construction materials, land clearance disputes, and ongoing design and contractor selection processes. The Ministry of Finance urged acceleration through improved land clearance, material supply, price oversight, administrative discipline, and enhanced project management capacity.
