Public Transport Closures in Vienna: These Routes are Affected This Summer 03.07.2026

Starting Saturday, July 4, Vienna will experience significant disruptions in public transport due to construction work. The Vienna S-Bahn main line (Stammstrecke) between Floridsdorf and Praterstern, as well as the S80 connecting line between Hütteldorf and Meidling, will be affected. These closures are expected to last for over a year. The S80 will also be suspended in the west for more than a year. During the summer, the Badner Bahn will only run as far as Inzersdorf instead of Karlsplatz. Additionally, several subway lines will be impacted: the U3 will be out of service between Hütteldorfer Straße and Westbahnhof from mid-July to the end of August, and the U4 will be interrupted between Schwedenplatz and Wien-Mitte until early August. Replacement bus services have been established for the affected routes. Simultaneously, the ÖBB is increasing ticket prices by 3.5 percent.
