The First Specialized Supra-Provincial Prosecutor's Office for Human Rights and against Terrorism of Puno has requested nine months of preventive detention against four members of the National Police of Peru (PNP) for their alleged responsibility in the death of a 24-year-old man. The victim died after being detained by officers from the Santa Bárbara Police Station, located in Juliaca, Puno region. According to the Prosecutor's Office, the young man was allegedly repeatedly struck in the head, face, and stomach during the detention procedure.
