Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan to Moscow, emphasizing her state visit as a significant symbol of deepening bilateral relations, especially as the two nations approach their 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties. Putin highlighted Hassan's consistent support for growing partnerships and noted recent trade expansion, citing a 20-25 percent increase over the past year, with significant potential for growth in strategic sectors like energy, transport, healthcare, and education. President Hassan described the visit as historic, marking the first state visit by a Tanzanian head of state to Russia since Julius Nyerere's 1969 trip, and expressed her intent to discuss future cooperation and sustainable development, while also acknowledging Russia's historical support and contributions to Tanzania's development and paying respects to World War II heroes.
