Qualcomm, Nvidia ready for 'AI-native' 6G, if only the world knew what it was 02.03.2026

At Mobile World Congress, major technology companies like Nvidia and Qualcomm are signaling their readiness for "AI-native" 6G networks, despite formal standards still being under development. Nvidia has partnered to build next-generation wireless networks on AI-native, open, secure, and trustworthy platforms, focusing on AI-powered software-defined networking for continuous evolution. Qualcomm is forming its own coalition to create an "AI-native" 6G system emphasizing connectivity, wide-area sensing, and high-performance compute, aiming for standards development by 2028 and initial commercial rollouts by 2029. Both companies envision 6G as a future driven by AI, requiring lower latency, better traffic management, and the capacity to handle vast numbers of physical AI systems, though official specifications from bodies like the ITU and 3GPP are not yet finalized.
