Queensland demands assurances from scandal-plagued KPMG 04.06.2026

Queensland has demanded assurances from consultancy firm KPMG following allegations that the firm misused confidential client information to secure new business. The Queensland government, alongside New South Wales and Victoria, is scrutinizing KPMG after a whistleblower revealed the company shared secret client data. While Queensland has received assurances that no breaches involving its government information have been identified, the state continues active discussions with federal and other jurisdictional governments. KPMG Australia's chairman, Martin Sheppard, has apologized for the mishandling of client information, a scandal that led to the resignation of its chief executive and a senior partner. Queensland alone contracted over $85 million with KPMG in 2024-25 and expects the highest standards of integrity from its suppliers.
