Quezon City, Las Piñas, Parañaque air quality 'acutely unhealthy' amid Indonesia haze 01.09.2026

The air quality in Quezon City, Las Piñas, and Parañaque has been classified as "acutely unhealthy," while 10 other areas are tagged as "very unhealthy" as of Tuesday night. This is due to haze from forest fires in Kalimantan, Indonesia, being carried to the Philippines by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat). According to the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Air Quality Index (AQI) for PM2.5 pollution in Parañaque (Don Bosco) reached 229, Las Piñas hit 215, and Quezon City (Ateneo) recorded 202. An AQI between 201 and 300 is considered "acutely unhealthy," prompting authorities to advise limiting outdoor exertion, keeping vulnerable individuals indoors, postponing non-essential trips, and potentially restricting vehicular and industrial activity.
