Himanta 'most corrupt CM' in India; Modi, Shah, Sarma running 'land ATM' in Assam: Rahul Gandhi 02.04.2026

During an election rally in Assam on Thursday, April 2, 2026, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of being the "most corrupt CM" in India, alleging that Sarma, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are operating a "land ATM" to transfer 98,400 bighas of land to three major corporate houses by taking it from the public. Gandhi also pledged that a Congress government would deliver justice for the death of popular singer Zubeen Garg within 100 days of coming to power, stating Garg represented the spirit of Assam. Furthermore, Gandhi criticized the India-U.S. trade deal as a loss for India and promised to implement Article 244(A) of the Constitution, ensuring local governance for Sixth Schedule areas, and protect tribal rights.
