Ramadan 2026. Le mois de jeûne a commencé : y a-t-il aussi deux dates différentes pour l'Aïd-El-Fitr ? 19.02.2026

The start of Ramadan in 2026 has led to a potential divergence in the dates for Eid-El-Fitr, the celebration marking the end of the fasting month. This follows a similar discrepancy in the start of Ramadan itself, with the French Council of Muslim Faith (CFCM) announcing February 19th based on scientific methods, while the Grand Mosque of Paris has not yet confirmed its date, having previously set Ramadan's start for February 18th after a "Night of Doubt." Eid-El-Fitr, which typically occurs four weeks after Ramadan begins, could therefore also have two different dates, depending on which religious body's calculation is followed. The Grand Mosque of Paris employs a method combining astronomical calculations and lunar observation, differing from the CFCM's scientific approach, a division not seen in over a decade.
