Ramaphosa outlines Presidency's priorities for economic growth and job creation 03.06.2026

President Cyril Ramaphosa, in presenting the Presidency's budget vote in the National Assembly on Tuesday, outlined a strategic focus on economic growth and job creation for 2026/27, emphasizing the Presidency's role as a co-ordinating and strategic leadership institution rather than a service delivery department. He highlighted the Presidency's mandate in long-term planning, policy coordination, and implementation oversight, while welcoming strengthened parliamentary oversight. Ramaphosa acknowledged that global events, such as the conflict in the Middle East, are threatening South Africa's economic recovery by causing a global oil crisis, potentially impacting inflation, cost of living, and job creation efforts, especially as recent Stats SA data shows a decline in employment. Key priorities also include combating crime and corruption, addressing violence against women, and managing migration effectively through strengthened border security and enforcement of immigration laws.
